The World’s Best Radio Flyer Red Wagon
We adore this wagon…my son loves to go for rides in it on our dirt road! Yes, that’s right, it can easily handle a dirt road or grass, etc. It is made extremely well and is very easy to steer.
For my son’s first birthday we wanted “the best red wagon” we could find, that is, the most durable, sturdy, all-terrain wagon. We searched for a wagon that had these features without giving up the look of a traditional “red wagon.” So, with that said, this is the result of that research:
TaDa! I present to you the: Radio Flyer All-Terrain Steel and Wood Wagon
So, here he is testing out his ATW Radio Flyer Wagon on his 1st birthday.
And here is a picture of him riding in it around the yard…it handles so well on the grass!
Does this Wagon really hold up to our high standards, desires, and needs?
Absolutely, unequivocally, and emphatically 100% YES!
Here is a rundown of the fabulous features:
✓ Big tread, rubber, inflatable wheels,
✓ A metal “base” on the wagon with beautiful sturdy wooden sides
✓ Easily hold me (1 adult) and my son
✓ 3-inch-wide, 11-inch-high rubber wheels
✓ 16-by-34-inch bed
My son has never been wild about strollers. He doesn’t like to be confined…in anything whether it is a stroller or a car seat and never has. We were desperately hoping that this wagon would be the perfect solution for us. Fortunately for us, he loves it! We put a folded blanket in the bottom to make it soft and padded, and added a pillow in the back for a back rest. We ride him around in it at stores like Home Depot, and yes, even at the mall! We have used at crowded outdoor fairs, and for picnics. One of the best features is that is holds him, all the stuff we need for him, and all of our things! When we were on vacation on Lake Michigan, we took it to the outdoor market and used it to pull our groceries home. We took it to the beach with us, our first day there, and well, we did encounter one difficulty with it, don’t try to use it on soft sand! It is very hard to pull! Any other terrain, grass, sidewalk, bumpy dirt roads, park trails, etc., it is absolutely fabulous.
We chose this wagon over others for these reasons:
✓ It’s base is metal so it is more durable than the plastic ones. There is a plastic wagon on the market that has molded seats that face each other with a built in table, but it does not hold “older” children very easily since the seats take up so much space.
✓ It does not have a canopy like some, but this means we don’t’ have to worry about it breaking, either! From what I hear, they break pretty easily. If you really want to provide sun-shade, I recommend the Radio Flyer Umbrella Sun Umbrella.
✓ It has blow-up rubber wheels with deep tread for better traction and a smoother ride rather than plastic wheels which can slip and are noisy and bumpy. Note: the tire pressure does have to be checked from time to time - just like a bicycle, or car.
✓ In spite of being metal, it is still relatively light and quite easy to pull. It is very easy to steer and turn and goes up / down curbs and around corners without any problem.
All in all, this red wagon was a wonderful buy!
We have no regrets or complaints.
